    The Silvia portafilter is much like those found in commercial machines. With a 58mm diameter, the shape of the basket and surface area of the coffee are similar to commercial machines, providing similar resistance to the hot water during the brewing process. The closer the conditions to a commercial machine, the closer the result to a commercial machine. Remember, for good espresso, time, temperature and volume of the shot are important factors. The larger size also means more thermal stability.
